Ordinarily, overdates are not errors since they were done intentionally while other die-cutting mistakes are considered errors. Double dies, planchet clips, off-metal strikings, etc. also are errors. For everyday use, error variety coins are separated into major & minor errors. In general, a coin with a major error would be easily identified by eyeballing the coin. Minor errors tend to be virtually undetectable with the naked eye. Close scrutiny with a 15x magnifying glass reveals these errors. The appeal to collectors is 1) readily found in circulation, 2) premium value depending on error and coin condition and 3) enough research and fun to make it worth your while. There are many different error types can be found in circulation. Listed below are some of the common CONSEA terms of minor error coins acquired through general circulation (pocket change). - Bubble Plating these planchets have gases trapped between the core material and the plating - Die clash For the wheat cent, look under Lincoln’s chin for an upside down T of CENT on the obverse and between the E of ONE and the N of CENT for Lincoln’s tie on the reverse. It is the pattern of the die scratches which makes them important. - Double Die If the working hub and working die with its initial image are not fitted together properly in the press, a doubled image occurs on the die. This doubled die will in turn transfer a doubled image to every coin it produces. - Rotated Die Coins are struck with coin alignment; that is, the top of one side is the bottom of the other side. If a die becomes loose in its holder or was installed with an incorrect alignment, it is said to have rotated. The greater the rotation over 15 degrees, the greater the value to collectors. - RPM These coins exhibit a mintmark that has at least a doubled image due to its being repunched. - Struck Through (1) Grease filled die. This coin exhibits weak or missing design elements due to the die being clogged with a combination of grease, dirt, and iron filings. There is a rough surface where the design element is missing. (2) String. This coin exhibits an incused thin line, usually in a wavy or circular pattern, from a piece of thread that curled up on the die or planchet. (3) Wire. This coin exhibits an incused thin line from a piece of wire or bristle from a wire brush that came between it and the die. A standard piece of equipment in a machine shop is a wire brush or file card that is used to clean the grooves of a file. The pressman periodically uses the brush to clean the press and the dies when they become clogged with grease and dirt. Falling bristles can find their way into the coining chamber and be struck into a coin. These often appear in a U shape and have been incorrectly called staples. They are a wonderful invention allowing new levels of freedom to communicate unheard of, just a few years ago. But, like everything else, its a two-edged sword. No longer is privacy the rule. I get to hear about everyone elses conversations in the grocery store, bank line, restaurant, and most other heretofore-public areas. Im not sure I want to know why so and so is running late, lost their job, or what they want for dinner. Its not just that problem. I get confused when I see someone walking along and talking into thin air. That is, until I see the earphone, or tell-tail cord, coming from the persons ear and dangling downward. Yet, Im actually getting use to the sight, which is equally disconcerting. But Im also irate over what happened to my formerly quite space. There was a time that I could go into a Starbucks, get a Vente Caf Latte, muffin, and read the newspaper in peace. But that was years ago. Now, I get to hear an entire conversation regarding stock purchases, the aunt Edna flying in from Des Moines, or how hemorrhoids are ruining the man who is seated next to me. That last conversation caused me to retreat to the safety of my car to finish my breakfast. What has happened to our personal and private issues? Are they now aired for the world to hear and judge? I dont want the people around me hearing about my business, but am I alone in this view? The kids that run around the mall wear the cell phone like a badge. Most often, they are seen furiously text-messaging each other, even as they walk and talk to one another. I cant understand how the phone became a telegraph machine. But thats a whole other article. I want to vent on the public nature of cell phones. In the ancient days of pay phones, in the very beginning, the Bell System went to great expense to build booths wide accordion folding doors. Later, to save money, they opted for small, metal, mini-shelters where you could stick your head and various acoustics could absorb the sound. The idea was that you didnt want other people listening in. In fact, it was considered rude to eavesdrop. I doubt that the next generation will even recognize that word. I will continue to do my part by talking to a minimum in a public place. I rarely make an outgoing call in a restaurant and reluctantly only pick up an incoming call when I recognize the number. Its our civic duty to return to the days of personal privacy and decorum. God himself said this in Hosea 4:6 my people are destroyed for lack of knowledge God did not attribute destruction of our lives and lack to the devil or infertility, he attributed it to lack of knowledge. When we lack knowledge of the will and purpose of God for our lives, then the consequences are great. From the day God created man on the face of the earth, His will and purpose was made clear: Be fruitful and increase in number, fill the earth and subdue it. Genesis 1:28. When God took His people out of the land of Egypt, God again told them: I love you and I will bless you and increase your numbers. I will bless the fruit of your womb. You will be blessed more than any other people; none of your men or women will be childless. Deuteronomy 7: 13-14. In Deuteronomy 28:4 God again confirms His blessing on His people: the fruit of your womb will be blessed. Here we see Gods desire and will for His people, the Christians and those who choose to believe in Christ Jesus, God himself meets all their needs, supplies all their demands. Everything related to a Christian is to bear a mark of prosperity and success. God again speaks in Malachi 2:5,My covenant with him was a covenant of life and peace That promise is for every Christian. Gods covenant with His people is one of life, not death, one of fruitfulness not barrenness for any man or woman who believes in Him and chooses to trust his word. There is no way whatsoever that a Christian who believes these promises from Gods Word can remain sick or infertile, because Gods Word cannot fail. If God said, none of those who serve him will be barren, then thats exactly what it means, none means none to God. In Christ Jesus, Gods promise to all Christians is fruitfulness, children, for the Bible says: if a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit. (John 15: 5) As long as you belong to Christ, Gods promise to you is to bless you with your own children. My own personal experience of ignorance of Gods soon after I gave my heart to the Lord burglars started coming into my home. Several times they came in and stole valuable things. Finally I cried out to the Lord to ask why this was happening to me. He then answered me by saying I was not releasing the ministry angels to protect my home. Lets look at Hebrews 1:14, are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation? We as children of God are those who will inherit salvation. The ministering angels are here to serve us. If you have someone sent to serve you what must you do? You must give them specific instructions as to what you want them to do. The Lord told me that it was ignorance of His Word that caused me to lose all those things through a thief. After that day I started instructing my ministering angels every day as to what I wanted them to do. Until the time of writing this it has been fourteen years and no thief has ever come near my home. Glory be to God, his Word is true and can never fail those who put their trust in it. God created man to multiply and increase and subdue the earth. God gave man the power to have control over every situation in the earth. Man is created to use the power of Gods Word spoken from his mouth to change whatever situation he does not like in his life. The power of God is residing within you as a child of God. this is because God has anointed you with His Holy Spirit. When you speak faith filled words those words will surely change your life and destiny, because Gods word creates. Please child of God do not say any more that God has denied you children for any reason whatsoever. The bible says God is faithful to all his promises and cannot go back on his word. For God says in Psalm 127:3-5, Sons are a heritage from the Lord, children a reward from him. Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are sons born in one’s youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. They will not be put to shame when they contend with their enemies in the gate.
